The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA), which owns and operates the Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) and the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport (CKIA), announced today the opening of a children’s play area in the departures hall at ORIA.
As part of the CIAA’s commitment to providing improvements to service, operations and safety standards at the airports, the new children’s play area provides a unique passenger amenity to help keep the traveling children entertained in a safe environment prior to boarding their flight.
The CIAA teamed up with Clear Channel Airports and Century 21 Thompson Realty to make this exciting new venture a reality. Featuring an underwater theme to excite a child’s imagination and wonder, the children’s play area comes fully equipped with rockers, puzzles, slides and seesaws for children ages 4-12 to enjoy.
As the sponsor of this project, Century 21 Thompson Realty said, “For more than 25 years of serving Cayman’s real estate industry, we have lived by the notion that ‘we go to great depths for you’. This theme has come to life in the children’s play area where we have selected specific play pieces that embody the sentiment of going to great depths while allowing kids’ imaginations to flourish as we bring the seascape of Cayman’s beautiful shores to the ORIA terminal.”
The children’s play area at Owen Roberts International Airport is located in the departures hall, near Gates 8 and 9. Additionally, a Mamava privacy suite, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman, is located next to the children’s play area to allow for nursing mothers to breast feed in the privacy of a self-contained, mobile pod.
